🍿 Today’s Video:

I fell into blogging by accident, which means I wasted a LOT of time making stupid beginner mistakes. But there is good news:

Because I’ve made every mistake there is when it comes to starting a new blog, you won’t have to. Here are 5 common mistakes to avoid.

Mistake #1: Don’t Blog about Everything – Pick a Niche!

You likely have a lot of skills and passions, but when it comes to blogging you want to be focused. Try to make your blog cover one topic (niche) rather than spread out into anything you fancy.

Mistake #2: Good Enough is Perfect

You don’t want to over-optimize your blog posts or YouTube videos. Keep them “good enough.” At the end of the day, good enough IS perfect. Strive for 80

Mistake #3: Don’t Fear Competition

If you want to blog about a popular topic: just go for it. The more popular a topic is, the more potential readers you can reach once your blog evolves and specializes over time.

Mistake #4: Write for Your Readers

It might be your blog, but it’s not about you. It’s about your readers. Make sure to write your blog posts with them in mind: answer their questions. Don’t just rant about your own life and problems.

Mistake #5: You Don’t Need a Plan, You Need to Start

If you want to lose weight, you go out and start jogging. You don’t sit inside for months to play the “perfect jogging route” and the “best jogging shoes.” If you want to be a successful blogger go you need to just start writing and posting blog posts. You can optimize later.
